Knowing when and why to protect door panels
Share
It is extremely important that you know how much water can get on a vehicles door panel, how long it can sit there before it needs to be wiped off, and when using a heat gun how long you can hold the heat gun in one spot facing the door panel itself.
1. General Motors door panels tend to swell up on the top edge from water soaking into the panel. Never leave any liquid on these vehicles for a prolonged period of time.
2. Never allow water to puddle up in the window switches, door lock switches, and especially speakers.
3. Be extremely careful when using a heat gun on the inside of a vehicle. If you hold the heat gun in one position facing the fragile door panel vinyl material for too long it will melt very quickly and is 100% non fixable!
